Scarves are satisfying things to knit as you can use up every last drop of a couple of balls of yarn. It feels like very good value when there is no wastage - unless that is your scarf is approaching 'Tom Baker as Dr Who' proportions when it is probably a good idea to think about casting off.
I had a teeny tiny bit of yarn left after the casting off so I incorporated that into a brooch.
The result? A co-ordinated gift with nothing left to add to my ever growing yarn stash.
